  • Advice on writing your first official reflection

Super tips

  • Be sure to send very positive signals to your supervisor about your engagement and motivation for the EE

  • Once your first reflection is in Managebac the IB instructions say students should not make any edits - don't let this worry you - but do be aware of it. Speak to your supervisor or Mr Kelly if you have any concerns.

What next?

  • In the next steps be prepared for more extensive research, you'll be putting together an outline, an annotated a bibliography and in most cases a literature review

  • Remember to regularly pause and reflect on the EE process, add your observations to your RRS

First official meeting

What should you bring to that meeting?

  • Mandatory - bring your Research Proposal

  • To help discuss your research bring and refer to your ‘reflection space’ (RRS)

  • Bring enthusiasm and questions

  • We know you might be nervous - that's ok

How should you arrange that meeting

  • It is highly advisable for you (the student) to be proactive and request a meeting with your supervisor (avoid them having to chase you)

  • When you make contact offer at least three options for a meeting time, that way your supervisor can pick the most appropriate and unnecessary emails are cut down

First official reflection

Be sure to write meaningful reflections

How are reflections graded?
